A Blue post on the official World of Warcraft forums confirmed that "The sell value of all common artifacts has been doubled, while a small subset of common artifacts have had their sell value increased far beyond that."
Example: Word of Empress Zoe old sell value- 10g new sell value- 1000g
That becomes 1000 gold selling to the vendor for a common artifact. Your going to want to hold onto anything you get from archeology until patch day. Also the maximum number of fragments will be capped at 200 next patch. If you are over 200 you wont lose any, but once below you wont be able to get over 200 anymore.
